ICAN and Etica Funds- Responsible Investments invite you to sign onto this open statement to States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The statement encourages treaty members to require that State-owned enterprises fully integrate the TPNW prohibition on all forms of assistance throughout their operation and to ensure that obligations under the treaty are extended to both state and non-state (including private sector) actors within their jurisdiction.

The threat of actually using nuclear weapons creates a systemic risk for investors. The mere news of their possible deployment has an immediate negative effect on financial markets, across every sector and asset class. Investment companies should strive to minimize the chances of any negative risk, all the more so in this case.
